OUR STORY

THE SEVEN MILE ROAD KENNEBUNK STORY

How did we get here? That’s a great question. In 2015, the Page family moved to Kennebunkport, with the anticipation of staying for no more than 12 months. At the time, Bryan was pastoring a church in North Andover, MA, but had been given the green light to live in Kennebunkport for a season of rest, while commuting to his job in Massachusetts, with the long-term goal of moving back to North Andover after a season of rest.

Not long after their move, a love for the Kennebunks began to capture the Page’s hearts. Through friendships forming, engagement with their CrossFit community, and relationships forming with their physical neighbors, Bryan and Danielle began to pray about staying long term in the Kennebunks. A vision for seeing their friends and neighbors meet and follow the real Jesus came to fruition, with the hopes of seeing a church planted in and for the Kennebunks becoming a dream.

While in a season of prayer, Bryan met Mark Jago and Jonathan Waszaj, who had been meeting with a small group of people for 2 years. Mark and Jonathan had committed themselves to living missionally among the people of the Kennebunks, with the hopes of planting a church to these very people. After a meeting at the Seed and Bean Coffee Shop in West Kennebunk, there was excitement about what Jesus was doing in bringing a team together, committed to following Jesus, growing in their love for each other, and bending out their lives towards the people of the Kennebunks sacrificially. A few months of meeting, getting to know each other and praying to see if Jesus wanted us to partner together, we decided to go for it. Together.

Along with that, Bryan’s relationship with Seven Mile Road and their vision to plant gospel-centered, missional churches in New England, came to the table. Not long after meetings with Seven Mile Road pastors, prayer and conversation, the team in Kennebunk decided to partner with Seven Mile Road to plant a healthy, strong church IN and FOR the Kennebunks with Seven Mile Road.

We continued to meet with the small group of people in the Jago’s home, getting to know people and cast some vision for planting a church in the Kennebunks. A few months later, in January of 2017, the Page’s started a 2nd Gospel Community in their home in Kennebunkport, with Christians and non-Christians meeting bi-weekly for a meal, friendship and vision casting for a new church among the Kennebunks. Along the way, both groups were committed to going slow, getting to know each other and pray for the Spirit’s leading in launching publicly with worship gatherings.

During that time, Jonathan had met a local business owner who owned a building in Kennebunk, right on Route One. Upon meeting with him, the guys figured there was no way we could ever afford a building like the one they walked through. But during their conversation with him and sharing with him their vision to plant a church, the owner was excited and offered the building to us to use – for absolutely no cost. As a Christian man, this business owner was pumped to see the Kingdom of God advance in the Kennebunks and wanted to do anything he could to help. Amazing!

On September 10, 2017, after months of praying, planning, and vision casting, Seven Mile Road Kennebunk came to life publicly with their first Sunday worship gathering. About 100 people showed up to celebrate Jesus and the launching of a new church IN and FOR the Kennebunks.

And so, here we are. A church IN and FOR the Kennebunks. And beyond. We’re not perfect. We’re learning. We’re growing. We’re praying. We’re growing in our love for Jesus and our love for each other. We’re learning what it means to be a family. And we’re pumped to live our lives in response to Jesus and his grace to the people we’re being sent to in the Kennebunks and beyond in the everyday stuff of life.
